Laundry sorter make-over
I am always curious to hear how other people manage the laundry chaos in their homes. I usually just wash everything all together and every now and then I will bleach my whites. The problem is, with three kids Im not always able to fold everything the moment it comes out, and it really bothers me to always have clothes sitting in the dryer getting wrinkled. My solution- I bought this laundry sorter
I got out my stamp set and went to work.
Instead of the usual whites/darks/towels I went with something more practical for our family. I sort by shirts/whites and towels/other. I like to wash all of our shirts together and I make sure to dry this load at a time when I will be able to hang eveything up as soon as they are dry. The kid's each have their own color of coat hangers. All of our shirts get hung up right away. The next sorter is for whites and towels. I like to bleach all of our bath towels/rags/dish towels as they seem to smell fresh for longer! I just buy lighter colored towels so I can throw them right in with the whites. The last sorter is for anything else- pj's, jeans and such. I also don't have to worry as much about folding the whites and other clothing right away. I know none of our shirts are mixed in so I'm not as worried about wrinkles.
So far I am loving my new laundry sorter! What is your laundry system like?

Simple snack box
My kids never seems to be happy with what I offer for snack. They all want something different. I refuse to get out yogurt for one, peel and cut an apple for another, and pop popcorn for another. My solution was to create a snack box with easy, healthy snack options. This way they can just pick what they want from the snack box.
I picked up a wooden crate/box on clearance at Michael's Craft Store. With my wood burning tool and letters I burned the word snacks onto the box. I finished it with my homemade beeswax polish (you certainly don't have to do this step, but I had the beeswax so went ahead and did it!)
You can find the ingredients and directions for your own wood polish over at the blog of Amber Dusick- http://www.amberdusick.com/woodmouse_loves_crafts/2010/07/how-to-make-beeswax-wood-polish-woodmouse-recipe.html
Super simple and now there is no more complaining at snack time! How is snack time at your house?

These are the moments they will remember
Kids- let them play in the mud, even if that means you have to give them a bath. Let them help you bake and clean up, even if they are actually making twice the amount of work for you. Let them play in the rain, let them explore nature, let them laugh, let them cry, and don't forget to sometimes laugh and cry with them. Turn off the TV and put away the video games and let kids be kids! These are the moments they will remember. These are the moments you won't want to forget.
